FINANCE AND NAVAL LOAN BILLS.
United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, December 2. The Federal Senate passed tho Finance Bill by 19 votes to 16. During th© debate on the second reading of the Naval Loan Bill in the House, Mr Fisher protested against borrowing for defence purposes, and asked the Government to withdraw the measure till the electors had been consulted.
Mr Deakin said that tho nations of Europe were making frantic efforts to increase their naval power, and Australia needed a fleet unit without delay.
