' The funeral of the late Mrs A. J. White took place yesterday, and was wry largely attended. Requiem Mass «a* held at the Roman Catholic Cathedral at 9 a.m.. His Lordship Bishop Cri_ies officiated, and he was assisted *iy the Rev. Father I rice, Adm. Master of Ceremonies; the Very Rev. Dean ' Ginety, Vicar-General, who was in attendance upon the Bishop; the Rev. Dr. Kennedy, who acted as deacon, and "the Rev. Father McDonald, who acted ,as sub-deacon. The Rev. Fathers Mahoney (St. Mary.'s), Cooney (Lyttelton), and Drew (South Africa) intoned the Macs, tho ceremony being most impressively solemn. Bishop Grimes said it was close upon a quarter of a century since be became .acquainted with the late Mrs White. ■ She was present at the speaker' 6 consecration, and at his first Pontifical Mass.
