ROAD BOARDS.
ELLESMERE
At the last meeting of the Ellesmere Road Board the clerk was empowered to have the groins at the Selwyn River protective works planted with willows. Tenders were accepted as follows: —For shingling Doyleston drain road, M. Slattery, at Is 8d per yard; for cleaning Anderson's and Webster's drain, Joseph McQure, at Is 3d per chain; for cleaning drain on Bowis's frontage, Hanmer road, G. Aitkon, at Is lid per c'haiii; for carting shingle for road near •Messrs Skinner and White's, Dunsandel, William Dawson, at Is 6_d per yard. Th© chairman moved, in accordance with notice of motion, that a rate of a halfpenny in tho £ be levied on all thc rateable property in the district. This was carried. It was resolved that in future, meetings should be held on the first Monday in each month at 11 a.m.
