CASUALTIES.
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. A fanner named Joseph Carr, living at Gfeenpark, w&b arrestedi on Saturday by Constable Mayne, of Lincoln, on a charge of attempted suicide. It appears that Carr had become depressed because of some domestic* . troubles, and announced that he was tired of life. Hβ tried' to dissolve some match heads in water, but he did not manage this effectively enough, as the drink which be prepared did him no harm. He then put some match heads into half a glass .of spirits of salts, but his son-in-law; prevented his absorption of this more potent concoc- . tipn. Carr was brought into town, and will appear at the Police Court this morning.
<PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) . DUNEDIN, June 20. The remains of a body were found on the Tomahawk beach, four miles from Dunedin, on Saturday night. The limbs,are missing, and very little flesh adhered to the bones. A doctor -who examined the body expresses toe opinion that it is that of a woman about thirty years of age. It is possible that the remains are those of Miss Meade, of South Dnnedin, who disappeared m that locality last July, some of her clothing being found on the hill
