LONDON, May 19. The Progressives on the London County Council are etrongly opposing the proposal to sell the,freeholds of the eurplus land acquired in connection ivith the Holborn to Strand, Westminster, and other street improvements.'
Mr Hayes Fisher, Chairman of the Finance Committee., states that £200,000 is spent annually in. interest on the unlet portions.
The apparatus of the Works Department, which, was recently abolished, was sold at a heavy loss.
