HOCKEY.
CHRISTCHURCH CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. There was a large attendance at the annual meeting oi tho Cliristcliurch Hockey Club. Mr R. Ridley bein_ in the chair. The committee in its annual report expressed the opinion that if a suitable training jjround were obtained the various teams would obtain a much better position in the competitions during the coming season than they had done in the past. Tht> balance-sheet showed receipts iincluding cre*dit balance of £3 5s Sd brought forward from the previous year) £14 los Bel. expenditure £'13 12s 3d. credit balance £1 3s od. Th-;" assets were £10 13s ."kl. and the liabilities nil.
The report and balance-sheet wer. adopted. The election of officers and committee- is-stilteei as follows: — President. Mr D. Mansnn; vice-presidents. Messrs J. Murphy and Tt. 1.. Field: club captain, Mr A. E. AckToyd: vice-captain. Mr I*. Ridley; lion, auditor, Mr H. C. Ridley : hon. secretary. Mr W. S. Cameron: hon. treasurer. Mr E. P. Cooper: dele_ntos to Canterbury. Hockey Association. Messrs A. E. Ackroyd and .1. Stubberftoki (re-elected): Gene-: ral Committee, "Messrs W. H. Sutclift'e, 11. A. Row, R. Francis. IT.S. Williams. V. Slnbl-orfiokl (re-elected), and Mr B. Mitlslcv: reelection Committee, Messrs A. E. Ackroyd, R. A. Row and W. S. Cameron.
After discussion it was decided that the opening day be fixed for April 3rd.
The. annual meeting of the Dunsanelel Ladies' Hockey Club was held on March 13th. There was a goevd attendance. Officers were elected as follows: —Patron, Mr J. S. Be>ag: president, Mr James Henderson: vice-presidents, .Mf-danu-s J. McMillan. J. T. Wright. C. Wright, W. Walker, J. Henderson, Messrs H. F. Wright and M. McMillan ; secretary and treasurer, 3li.«s E. M. Hoag; Se>le?ction Committee, Misses L. Gates. A. Wright, and secretary: delegates to the Association, Messrs J. S Hoag and James Henderson. Tho opening day was fixed for April 3rd.
The first annual general mooting of Gifby's Hockey Club was held on Thursday evening, when there was a full attendance, the presielent, Mr C. H. Gilby, occupying thc chair. The report congratulated the members upon thc success that had attended the club during its first season, and upon tho satisfactory state of its finances. Tho report and" balance-sheet were adopted. Tho following officers were elected: — President, Mr C. H. Gilby: vice-Dresi-dents, Mrs C. H. Gilby and Mr T. E. Taylor. M.P. ; club captain. Miss E. A. Hassall; hon secretary, Miss Ida Gifkins; hon. treasurer. Mr F. Whitcombe : committee. Misses Buchanan, Wilkinson and Holmes, and Mr L. F. Corson. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr G. W. Ford, who acted as coach, and to Miss K. Ballingcr for her services as auditor. Both Mr Ford and Miss Ballinger were re-elected. It was decided to enter two teams for the competition this year, and to leave the teams to appoint their own captains.
