In his endcavonr to steady Soultlino in the first part of the race, M'Larhlan ■•choked" the horse, hence when it came to a finish l'arsoe had iiothiiia to beat. Though Siynor did not win a raco at the V.R.C Autumn Meeting, his three plaeiugs brought Mr G. F. Moore 475 soys. As the Patea ltncing Club's course is not considered to be in good enough condition to race on, the annual meeting, fixed for Easter Monday, will bo held on the Egmont Club's course, at Hawera. Among the owners who have turned their attention to the English turf, consequent on the interference with racing in some of the American States, is Mr H. P. Whitney, who now has 27 horses at Newmarket, in charge of A. J. Joyner, who trained for him in America. Joyner, who also has four of Mr August Belmont's horses in his stable, turned out 95 winners in America last year, the stakes won totalling £89,000. Of Mr "Whitney's 27, no fewer than 17 are two-yoar-olds. The jockey for the stable is E. Dugan, one of America's most prominent riders.
