OBITUARY.
On Tuesday morning, Mr S. Morris, one of the oldest residents of tho district, died at his home in Kowai Bush. For many years he had been ill with a painfiddiseaso, but bore his sufferings with great fortitude. . He was always cheerful and bright, in spite of his pain, and his many friends will miss him very much. (rRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) WESTPORT, March 17. The death occurred this morning of Mr Duncan McLellan, aged 7G. He was a Crimean veteran —a gunner in the Royal Artillery. He fought at Alma, Inkerman, Balaclava, nnd t iok part ?'n the eapturo of Sevastopol. He ,-. as for many years a resident of Kumara, and was "well-known throughout the "West Coast. Ho leaves a widow and one daughter. Thero will be a military funeral. GORE, March 17. Mr Thos. Grieve, one of the bestknown settlers in Southland, died suddenly, presumably from heart trouble, at fiis farm, "Waitui," Mataura, yesterday, while harvesting. He was for four years manauer of the Bushy Park station at Mataura. Ho was 57 years old.
