BLACKBALL COAL MINE.
GREYMOUTH, March 16. Excellent progress still continues to bo made in connection with the erection of the Blackball Coal Company's bins. This huge structure, when completed, will have absorbed something like 370,000 feet of timber, and will have a holding capacity of 3500 tons. The height of the main building will bo 84 feet, and the length over all 170 foot, while the breadth will be 47 feet. The conveyors will be capable of travelling about 60 feet per minute. About 400 feet- of throe-inch shafting will be required for drawing the conveyors and working the screens. There will be 600 feet of gangway from.- the main haulage tunnel to the bins. There will also be erected 6S sliding doors for filling tho trucks, nnd two tippers for tipping the trucks, each being capable oi tipping 200 liundred trucks per hour. Tbe* daily output of roal at tho present time for the mine with the aerial tramway is 280 tons, but when tbe new bins are completed it will b> increased to 900 tons per day. The total cost for material and the erection of this most up-to-date structure will bo about £7000.
