TO THE EOITOU OF •'THE FREBS." •Sir.— -Kindly allow mc space to re*ovp an unfair impression given—inadvertently, no doubt—by your correspondent "Hortus," in his "Garden «otcs" in Saturday's issue of your ( Paper. ll<> says: — "We are mit'oor;wun that but for the- children's display ';'«» show would not have proved ail ,»bsolut« failure." Jfay I say, that in "ttk'r to meet the difficulty "of failing to get a hall large enough for the show, *>mc of our largest comretit-ors mo.>t considerately refrained from exhibiting *his time to allow of space- for tho <-hilflrpn's exhibits. Had they sent their MEhibits there wou.'d have been littlo joom for the children or their exhibits. ,H seems a pity "Hortus" should so <lePjj*ciate the show without first knon-int; r *u the facts of the case; indeed, he. '"rely fails to have a tilt at our miows. ~~Yours, rt-r., E. SXEYD SMITH. Secretary. ■Cantei-Ijury t>.it«.-<I Horticulu-.ral Soc-ety.
