CASUALTIES.
A man. named William Edward Turner, who was felling a tree at Woolston yesterday, sustained a serious fracture of the left leg, and was subsequently conveyed to the Hospital. An employee at Addincton Workshops named "William Edwards was struck on the head by a bar of iron yesterday and rendered unconscious. He was conveyed to the Hospital, where it was ascertained that he 'had sustained no serious injury. John Whearty met with a rather serious accident whilo unloading grain at, the Wiiislow railway station yesterday morning, and had to be conveyed to the Ashburton Hospital. Mr T. Stan ton was thrown from his friu: through his hor*o taking fright anil bolting in East street, Ashb-urton, on Saturday afternoon. Mr Stanton received a severe shaking, and the gig was considerably damaged. (press association telegram. , ) WAXGANUI, March. 15. Four yachtsmen had a narrow escapo from drowning yesterday, when their boat was capsized, during a heavy southerly blow, near t'he entrance to the river. A heovy sea was running, and tho pilot boat put out and rescued the men, who iwre clinging to the upturned boat, which was drifting towards the surf.
