KAIKOURA ITEMS.
(SPECIAI. TO "THE PRESS.") KAIKOURA, March 2. There is an exceptionally large number of store sheep on the roads from Northern Marlborough to Canterbury, and the committee who were recently much interested in the service of a stock boat, seem to have lost their chanc© of tho sheep freight, as most of the saleable sheep are now on their way South. The new wharf is now completed, and only one or two small rocks remain to be blown up. It is expected that Sir Joseph Ward and the Hon. J. A. Millar will be present to officially declare the wharf open for traffic. Messrs McLean and Company, the contractors, have made an excellent job of the wharf. The County Council will probably try to arrange the opening for Show time, so that the Ministers present may attend both functions. The Show takes place on the lfith inst., and promises to be a big success, some 1000 entries having been received for the various classes.
