The election of a member of tho Selwyn Coin ty Council for the Hoathtote "Riding, to nil the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr Geo. Scott, will flake place on the 19th inst. Nominations must be made before noon on the 12th inst. "Ihe entr'e.' for the annual Ran: Fair under the auspices of the Canterbury A and P. Association on 25th and 26th inst., will close on the 16th inst. with the secretary The annual general meeting of the Addington Hockey Club will bo held at the Pioneer Club Rooms to-night at eight o'clock.
