Mr Hickey, the New Zealand co:ijrainers' delegate, attended a - special meeting of the Committee of Management of the Northern Colliery Employees' Federation at Newcastle, and explained hie mission to Australia. It •was. he said, to placo the position of the coalminers of Now Zealand before the mining communities here, and it was hoped that a plan would be formulated "to bning the Newcastle, and New Zealand coaJ'tnin>ers' organisations closer together.
Tho meeting decided that the Executive officers of the Federation should confer with Mr Hiekey during the- week with a view of deciding on a scHeme for co-ordinate action.
