EMIL C. SKOG.

Mr E. C. Skog, Danish Consul for the South Island, died at his residence, Ferry road, yesterday. The late -Mr Skog was born in Copenhagen in 1848, and he served his time as an apothecary in that city. After five years in tho Danish Army, in which he rose to tho rank of lieutenant, Mr"Skog left for New Zealand, arriving in Napier in 1875. He was engaged in business in that town till 1881, when ho came to Christchurch. He was assistant manager for Messrs Cook and Ross, chemists, until the death of Mr Boss, in _a.'3, when he became manager of the business. He occupied that portion till ISAH, when ho went into business on his own account. In 18S4 Mr Skog was appointed Vice-Consul for Donmark, and nine years later received the appointment of Danish Consul for the South Island. Mr Skog acted as examiner for the Pharmacy Board of Now Zealand while tho office was in Christchurch. He was a prominent member of tho Masonic Order, and was past master of Lodge Canterbury, 1048 ■E.C., and a past Z. of tho Royal Arch Chapter Canterbury Kilwinning, S.C., also a member of the R.C. Chapter, No. 135 Clßth degree). Mr Skog was a Justice of tho Peace. His death will bo r_ikretted by a wido circle of friends.
