As thoro- is more than ono candidate for tho office of secretary of tho Seamen's Union, both in tho case of the Welliufrton aud Dunedin brameh-es. an election is necessary in each instance, ballot papers for which will bo issue! this week. Tlie Wellington candidates are Mr__ "\V. T. Youiiii (the present sseor.Uiry) and Holm. _ : and the Dunedin candidates are Messrs Belcher (the present secretary) and .Murray. The election is conducted on federal lines, every mem ber of the union having v vote in each case. It is not anticipated that the result will be known for five or six weeks, as iv some instances the papers will have to be seat to Australia and- returned to W"el_iu__ton and Dunedin.
