C__M| THE COST OF LIVING BIG DROP IN THE PRICE OF MADE-TO-MEASURE SUITS Of lato years wage-earners have been more and more put to it to make "both, ends meet." Despite the frequent increases in wages, house-rents and almost everything else have experienced a corresponding advance, -with the result that most people find themselves little better oil for their increased earnings. It is therefore gratifying to learn of one much-wanted line, that i_ot only has not advanced in price, but on the contrary, has decreased very materially, viz., the production of made-to-measure suits. This has been made possible by the adoption of modern methods, aj_d it is gratifying to learn that the pioneers of _he system were an old-established Christchurch firm, Messrs Tribe and Co., who introduced these 20th century methods some ten years ago. As doubtless many of tho readers of this paper will be interested in learning how Tribe and Co. are enabled to 'sell suite made-to-measure from 455, when everything else is advancing in price, we will briefly describe the system here. You see, most tailors, are kept really busy only m the Spring and Autumn, mat means their hands are often idle for weeks at a time. They havo got to pay those honds. But they are not in the charity business, so the cost of keeping their hands in slack times ia passed on to their customers. It has to be. _ou have to stand a portion of it in the cost of every suit you buy from r. small tailor. Tribe and Co. saw that if they could mako several suits where little tailors made one, they could soil them a t about half their price. With characteristic enterprise they set about doing it relying, of course, upon a small profit on the lorger turnover, rather than on a b'._ profit on a few suit*. | But, one might a_k, making the number of suits they do, can they give tbo same satisfaction? Yes. they can, and do; for every suit t__? _?"_■ • T ' th ♦* guarantee i i _IS n " ot s -*t*»factory as to fit, H '_ a .„ " ROar tn °y take » back and rofuni the customer's money. He has __.-„«.
