Noble made 213—a chanceless innings. Gregory scored 179, but was missed twice before ho made 7. Emery ia not out with 55, and Kellaway not. out with 41.
OTAGO v. CANTERBURY.
Mr D. Reese, the Canterbury selector, has ohosen the following players to represent Canterbury against Otago at Dunedin on February 12th, 13th and 15th:—
A. Anthony (Riccarton), J. H. Bennett (Sydenham), C. Boxshall (East Christehuroh), H. Ellis (1-iccarton), E. Humphreys (Linwood), H. B. Lusk (\>es_ Christchurch). _*. A. Orchard (Linwood); W. Patrick (Hydenham). D. Reese (West Christchurch), A. Sims (East Christchurch). B. B. Wood (St. Albans). Emergency, J. Bruges (Sydenham).
The team is the same as that which played against Auckland, except that Eire replaces Malone and Patrick takes Ollivier s place. Ellis is a change bowler, and is also a reserve wicketkeeper of tho first clnss. On the whole the team is a splendid one, and should givo a good account of itself.
ASHLEY COUNTY A__-OC_AT_ON. In the game, Woodend v. Kaiapoi, on Saturday, Woodend made 104 (Little 45, Felton 16 not out, Chambers 13). Kaiapoi mado 90 for three wickets (H. Rollinson 37 not out, A. Rollinson 29, Moore 10). Tho bowlers were:—For Kaiapoi, Merrin, Rollinson, Wilson, and for Woodend, Smith and Judson.
A cricket match will be played next month between teams from the* Ashburton auctioneers' offices and the Banks and Professions, to decide the first holders of the David Thomas Memorial Challenge Cup, which was subscribed for after the last annual football match between the teams mentioned.
