ATHLETIC DISPUTE.

At the meeting of tho Canterbury Centre of tho Amateur Athletic Association yesterday afternoon to welcome home H. St. A. Murray, the subject of the conference of delegates from mo Centres to be held in this city today -was mer.tien.ed. The Chairman (Mr C. J. Cooper) read the resolution arrived at by the Centre regarding: tho constitution of tho Council, and expressing confidence in the Council. Ho stated that, as far as had been_ ascertained, only delegates from Wellington and Otago "would be present at the conference. In the course of the discussion that ensued it was contended that no good would be served by appointing delegates from tho Canterbury Centre to the conference. Dr. Thomas considered that it was absurd to j;ive such short notice of the date of fiic conference. It was agreed to confirm the Centre's resolution declining to appoint delegates to tho conference. (SPECIAL TO '•'TITE TRESS.'') DUXEDIX, December 4. Messrs Anderson. YVillett, and Wilsr>n have- been appointed delegates from tho Ota/io Centro to attend tho conference at Christ-churchy to consider cho dispute with tho Xow Zciiland Athletic Council regarding tho election of tho Council for tho year. Feeling locally is strongly against thc Council <:s :it present constituted, and against its high-handed action in refusing to aeerpt noniLr.ations for T.ho Cciincil of leading athletic centres.
