SAGACITY OF A ST. BERNARD.
The first ascent of Mont Blanc by an unattended dog was made the other day by. a young St. Bernard that spent fifteen hours on the journey, searching for- his master, M. Tairraz, of Ohamonix (says tlie "Standard"). M. Tairras .and tho Russian astromoaner, M. Stophanik, ascended to tlie* summit of - Mont Blanc and remained at tlie Valbt Oleerv-tory. Two days after they set oat, the dog, exhausted and hungry, crawled to tho feet of M. Tairraz who was standing outside the observatory. Several guides anel climbers say that they noticed tho dog on his way up the mountains He approached them and, not finding his master, continued his way to the summit.
