NORTH CANTERBURY CENTRE, N.Z.'ATHLETIC UNION.
Tho annual meeting of th© North Canterbury Centre of tho New Zealand Athletic Union was hold on Friday evening, there being present n good number of members and delegates. The report and balance-sheet wore read and adopted. Tlie report stated that during the year ten societies and clnbs wore affiliated and six permits issued_ whilo tho numoer of registered totalled 133. All tho North Canterbury sports clubs had become affiliated to the centre/ and as they intended to increase the prize money, it was hoped that tho coming season might bo even moro successful than the past. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £27 lbs 2d.
Tho following officers wero elocted:— President, Mr W. J. M. Hopkins; vicepresidents, Messrs G. E. Good and w. G. Walden; auditor, Mr W.. Black; secretary and treasurer, 'Mr A. J. Wootton: official handicappcr and starter, Mr W. G. Walden; permit committee, Messrs A. J. Barritt, W. G. Walden, and J. Austin. A bonus of £5 5s was voted to the secretary, and a voto of thanks was accorded to tho auditor.
