BOROUGH COUNCILS.
RANGIORA. A special and the ordinary monthly meeting of the >Raugiora Borough Council were held on Friday'evening. Present —Cre. Jennings, Keir, Foster, Ayors, Wilson, Gulliver, Sansom, and Carmichael. In the absence \ of thO Mayor, Cr. Jennings was appointed Deputy-Mayor. The special meeting was for tho purpose of confirming tho special order acquiring the land given! as a public street to be known ari Ayere street. - A special order making a by-law, was mado extending the area of the night-soil removal, which takes in the greater portion of the borough. At the ordinary meeting a letter was read from Mr D. Buddo, M.P., stating that he was urging the matter respecting Government assistance for the building of the bridge over the Ashley. Tlie offer of £10 for the lease of Maria Andrews Park from Mr Clark-" son Was accepted. A letter was received from the secretary of tho Rangio/a Beautifying 'Society, asking for the Council's co-operation, and' that the Council should hand over* several plots for the Association to improve, and also hand over the control' of Victoria square, the Council to subsidise to the extent of £20. The matter of dealing with the smafl triangle* near tbe railway station was left in tho hands of tho W T orks Committee and the matter of dealing with the square to the Reserves Committee, to confer with the Beautifying Society and re- 1 port at next meeting. s Tho financial statement was as follows: —Receipts £300 17s 9d, expenditure £93 9s od, debit balance at bankJSBB2 18s 7d. Gaa accounts: Receipts £181 19s od, expenditure £365 19s 3d. It was decided' that the attention of tho police bo drawn to'street loitering.
