+ SUGGESTED AMENDMENTS. A meeting of auctioneers was held in Mr Charles Clark's saleroom on Friday, when it was unanimously resolved to support the Wellington auctioneers in their endeavour to secure amendments to the Auctioneers' Act that will bring it up t<j date. It was also resolvod that an effort should be made to include the licensing of land agents as well as auctioneers; in other words, to havo an Act regulating tho conduct of tlie business of auctioneers and laud agents. The Nelson, Manawatu, and Wanganui auctioneers are also interesting themselves in the matter, and Mr J. E. Baker, on behalf of the Christchureh auctioneers, was requested when conveying tho resolutions of Friday's meeting to assure tho promoters of tie hearty 00-operation and endorsement of the Christchureh auctioneers. Following are amendments proposed: "No auctioneer's license to be granted by any local body after refusal by another local body. The Minister to bo asked to make provision for appeal against refusal to grant a license. Licenses to be issued for twelve months from Jamuary Ist. An auctioneer to be permitted to provide a substitute during the currency of his license, and to bo permitted to resume duty immediately, instead of with an interval of ten days, as at present. Application to a local authority in this instance not to be necessary. No reason to be given by an auctioneer appointing a substitute, the lodging of application and payment of license fee being sufficient." Following are additional clauses desired to be inserted in the Act:— '"13a—One or more licenses may be issued in the name of a company or firm, which shall, at the time of applying for such licenses, nominate some person or persons in it« employ who ahall, upon the issue of such licen.*es and under the provisions of tho Act, be entitled to sell by public auction throughout the Dominion. 13b—The company or firm an whoso name the license is issued may from time to time throughout the currency of sucji lioen.se cancel any previous nomination in lav, our of any other person in its employ, on payment of a registration fee of ten shillings. 13c—The nominee of any licensed company or firm shall be exempt from the provisions of sections 18 to 20 inclusive, the section applying only to his employers. ' .
