Dairy cows soU better but • there was a poor demand for store > cattlo. , STOKE SHEEP. Tliere was a fairly largo yarding of [ store sheep, and mixed in quality and • condition. There we,re several good • lines of forward wethers, and a better ■> proportion of forward lambs than at i late sales, the latter, however, being mostly in small lots. The owes were y a mixed lot, but among them were a few lines of good two-tooths. Forward '■ wethers and lambs, and the better classes of ewes wexo most in demand, s and sold well up to late rates, and i other descriptions were disposed of without much change in values. The supply of beef comprised 328 head, including a fair proportion of Sim© steers and heifers. The first roe ruo.es were passed as prices were , not up.to the, sellers'. reserves,v.but they•, were afterwards disposed of as raflucs improved ns the sal© progressed. Prime steers and heifers and' good cows met with the best demand, but inferior beef was more difficult to dispose of. The range" of prices was:—Steers, £6 5s to £11; .heifers, £5 to £8 17s 6d, extra to £9 10s: and cows, £4 5s to £7 ss, and extra to £8, equal to- 21s to 2os 6d for prime, 18s 6d' to 20s 6d for medium, and 17s to 18s for cow and inferior beef, per 1001b. Among the sales were for A. W. Rutherford, sexir (Alendip Hills), 1 steer at £8; A. W. Rutherford, junr. (Brookdalo), 13 steers at £6 12s 6d to £10 7s 6d; E. Ruddock (Southbridge), 2 steers at £7 12» 6d. and 3 heifers at £8 ss, 1 cow at £8 17s 6d; J. G. Rennie <Doyleston). 6 steers at £7 10a to £11, and 1 heifer at £8 17s 6d; M. Malley, 5 steers at £9 10e to £10 15s; J. O. Coop (Springvale). 4 steers at £6 17s 6d to £7, and 3 heifers at £4 to £5 7s 6d; G. D. Greenwood 4 steers at £10 15s. A medium entry of.veot calves sold rather better than last week at prices ranging from 4« 6d to £2 15s, according to size and qualify. STORE AND DAIRY CATTLE. There was a very small entry of store cattle, mostly yonng sorts and old eowb, and a poor sale. Fifteen to ' eighteen months made 345, and djy cows 15s to 455. There were some useful dairy cows entered and they met with an improved demand, prices ranging from £3 10s to £8 ss. PIGS. There w(u> a fairly large entry of pigs, including a good proportion of heavy weights. The demand showed h slackening off, and prices were in consequence easier. Choppers sold <it £3 to £4 12s fid, light baooners 50s to 60s, and heavy £3 4s to £3 11s, equal to 5d to sid per lb, porkers 28s to 35s for light, and 36g to 45s for heavy, equal to s£d to 6d per lb, large stores 23s to 265, medium 16s in ills, *uid weano-rs 6s to 12s
