CASUALTIES.

A child 18 months old, named Susan Brown, died suddenly at Mrs Irvine's Nursing Home, in Caledonian Road, St. Albans, yesterday morning. An inquest -will bo held this afternoon.

Penny, traveller for Duff and Co., softgoods merchants, of Christchurch, was discovered dead in ono of tho Somerset Hotel bedrooms at Ashburton. JJ_ had been staying at the hotel from April 30th till Monday last, ■when he left presumably to go to his home in Christchurch. However, ho arrived back in Ashburton yesterday morning from Rakaia, and at 10.30 asked for a cup of hot water and the loan of a room, it was thought for shaving purposes.
