In reference to "the cable message from Sydney stating that fruit-growOTß s<n New South Wales are protesting against the Domiuiooi'6 regulations in regard to the importation of citrus fruits, 'Mr T. W. Kirk, F.L.S., Government Biologist, sarid tihe angulation requJTed a certificate stating that the fimit came from an orchard within a mile of whdeth fruit fly wae not known to exist. 'Surely Australia will not admit that it has no orahards in existence tihia.t caainot comply with this requirement?" With regard to the "Monaster's tihreat of r«pr,iea. I .s, Mr Kirk po&mtied out that most of the Australian States some time ago aiheolutely prohibited the imoporba-tion of potatoes from New Zetland* while Tasmania absolutely (prohibited ill vegetation comintg from New Zealand, except cut flowers and willow outitingß. Aβ foT any reJaxaition- of the regulation, Mr Kirk said that was a. matter for the Minister's consaderartion.
