The α-mount spen,t on small birds' suppression was £50 more than last Year, but the decrease in damage to the harvest proved the money was well spent. The Board could meet ordinary expenditure on the halfpenny rate, but the extraordinary demande gave them anxiety, and in this connection he mentioned that tho Kowai Board was claiming 2b per cent. for the rebuTldiog of Saltwater Creek bridge, which was entirely in the Kowai district. This ward intended to contest the demand. He moved the adoption of the balance-sheet.
