SUNSHINE REGISTER.
The total sunshine for April, as j registered by the self-record ing instrument at the office of "The Press,'' amounted to 137 hr 23min, a daily average of 4hr 34min 36sec. This is considerably less than tho amount recorded in April of last year, when the sun was shining for a total period of 171 hr 6min (daily average ohr 42min 12sec). In the matter of sunshine, last month compares still more unfavourably with April of 1906, when the sunshine totalled as much as 209 hr (daily average 6hr 58min). In the month just past there were three whole days (tho loth, 18th, and 29th), and seven haltdays, on which the sun was obscured. Tho brightest day last month was the 2nd, when the sun shone for 10hr 3min, but that was the only day on which the sun was visiblo for as long as ten hours. In April last year the brightest day contained 10J hours' sunshine, and there were also five other days on which the sun shone for over 10 hours. Not a groat doal of sunshine was registered during the Easter holiday period, the amounts being as follows:—Thursday, April 16th, 14min; Good Friday, 3hr 57inin; Saturday, nil; Sunday, 3hr SJOrainj Easter Monday, lhr 31min; Tuesday, shr 36rain. Tho sunshine for the past four months has been as follows:—January, 261 hr 32min; February, 242 hr 27min ; Marcti, 135 hr simm; April, 137 hr 23min.
