MALVERN A. AND P. SHOW.

The Malvern Agricultural and Pastoral Association were favoured yesterday in. the matter of weather for their

annual show, though a heavy rain of tho previous day did not give promi&a of suoh favourable- conditions as were experienced. The ji&soeiiticnb are making good progress, there being a large increase in onitries and the takings a-t tho gat© will make a" bettor addition by £10 to the funds than the> receipts from this source last year. Tho Show was exceptionally well niiuiagod, the Association. Jiaving now thoir arrangements in good working order. 'Hie president, Mr D. McMillan, and hon. secretory, Mr Goo. F. "Wright, were supported by a good company of officials. The advent of a lady assistant secretary in Mi=e Ociltlmrt was am innovation at aai agricultural t'how, and she performed hor duties in keeping the records in a most satisfactory manner. Draught horses and sheep and farm produce formed the principal features of the Show. The district can brinij forward some, excellent typos of farm horees, notably these shown by Mtw-TS A. nnd W. (Ultandora. John AVelJs, junr., and J. Deans. The mares shown by Messrs Uilliuidors and AY oils were of fine quality, an.d the first prize gelding exhibited by Mr iioans wsia coiwpiciiouii for )m and action. TOio youii'i; stock wore hardly so good ns seen in previous years. There were n few good light holsca, not.itny in the gig. hack, and troop horse classes. 'Considering tlio dry season Uiey have «r :i« through, tilie fJiwp were very creditable, though tho fat lambs were not up to the usual standard of finish. A notable feature was the exhibits in the class for wethers of any weight. Mr Fred. Bull showed a pen of fivo magnificent four-tooth Shropshire wethers that soalod together i)p\vt 3qrs 2'Jlb, but. the judge* p!«ced before, a pen of equally prinio ■ Southdown cross eJioep of the same ago (out of Chatham Island ewes), bred by Mr W. J. Jenkins, which sonMd together Bcwt 2qrs 2!lb. Mr I)u?I aJso showed a pen of two-tooth Sliropeiluree which wero considered superior for their ago to the older sheep. Tihero wore a few pens of useful purebred sheep <yf various breeds shown. Cattle, pigs and poultry formed small classes, but tliero was a splendid coUoction of working collie dos?s, one of the best seen at a. cotuitry show.

• The classes for grass and seed were well filled, and the quality was generally excellent. There waa a large thereof roots. Tho fcurnipe wero Wei} grown, but, ns was natural in such on unfayv our&ble season., they wore nob as solid as usual. MamgeJs and carrots were good, especially ihe kv&ter. There was a spkmdid show of potatoes, and there, was no evidence of blight among tihem. The Up-to-da-t-es, and a eimilar potato, the Princess Victoria, a reputed heavy cropper, were very fine, and the wellknown varieties wore re-presented by good specimens. The products of tbe dairy and household were well up to th«e and there was, as usual, keoft comnetit-ion' in the various classes. Very fine collections of apples were shown by Messrs J. A. and A. W. Adams. The following is the prize-list, the nramber of entriee in each class 'being' given in parentheses:— HORSES. ' " Draught horses—Filly fo*l (3): A. "Wbtberspoon 1, J. Oogan 2, B. E. Jenkins ho.
