Whilst i<n the Omtuci! he rendered valuable seirvice to tho citizens as chairman of the "Works Committee, to tho duties of which office ho devoted <i considerable amount of time. Ho was clect<?d Mayor ol the city in 1891. and held the office for one term. H*> was re-elected to tho Oαty Council in 1894, and hold the eea-t until 1901.
