A series of tornadoes in America has swept tho country from Dakota to the Gulf of Mexico, killing 500 persons and injuring 1000, mostly negroes. The principal damage has been done in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Railroads have been destroyed, end telegraph and telephone wires are down.
