Asked to-day to state the latest position with regard *to tho Blackball strikers, tho Hon. _>r. Findlay, At-torney-General, said that proceedings against the Union by warrant' of distress had resulted in the warrant being returned "nulla bona" by the bailiti, the Union having been found to. have no funds to satisfy the distress. The "Minister pointed out that an application iv such a caso must bo made to the Arbitration Court, or the president thereof, for an order directed against tho members of tho Union to pay the tine, tho liability of each member being limited to £10. This application must be made upon notice being given to the members of tho Union notifying them of tho intention to apply for the OTder in quest-ion. Tho place and data must also he -notified. "Understand," proceeded Dr. Findlay, 'that tho matter has been pushed forward by the Crown Solicitor at Ureymouth, and that notices havo been served on th.. Union members. Tho application w : M, I am informed, be heard by Mr Justice -.irh in Auckland this week. Should ho make an order, it will then be filed in tho Magistrate's Court at Greymouth, and will havo tho effect cf "a judgment of that Court.
