Seventy-five political prisoners imprisoned in the Fortress of S-hlassel-berg, near St. Petersburg, smuggled out an apipec-Jf to the foreign Press to oblnin an amelioration of their condition. They declared that they were fed with bread and water, their bands and feet were chained day and night, and they were knouted for small infractions of discipline.
