TO THE KDITOB OF "THE MUCSS."
- Sir,—Re ktter by "Old Settler" in this morning* issuo, I beg to state that tho oemetcry oommonly Known as tho WeiSJoi-an Oemetery in Bajibedoes street is oot in any way subject to the oontrol of the Methodist Church. The plot of ground in question was reserved by Owwn grant to James Edward Fitfcgerald, August 27th, 1555, in trust as a place of burial for "Dissenters." Under tho "Cemetery Reserves Management Ordinance, 1870," George Gould, James Purvis Jamceon, Francis J. Garrick, George Booth and Thomas Abbott were appointed a Board: 'of Management in 1871 as per notification ki the 'Canterbury Gazette/ p. 204. In 1874, "Gazette," p. 162, Sir B. C Mouldey was appointed in place, of Mr Garriok, resigned, and he is now the only surviving member of the Board. By the Cemeteries Act, 1882, the Provincial Ordinance was repealed and ample provision mode for dealing with cemeteries'in tho Dominion generally, j and with this cemetery in particular.— Yours, etc., - .
