RIFLE SHOOTING.

r I The Christchurch Defence Rifle Cub held their annual field day on Easter Monday on their rang*, Cashmere, when there was a good attendance cf competitors, visitors, and lady friends. Despite the cold wind, a very enjoyable day was spent. On the completion of tho shooting, Captain Gundersen pTesen-ted tilie prizes n_d tee -c_ampion.c<_ip I gold medal for the season won by Rifleman F. Tront (given by the vice-president, Mr J. Mcliae Peacock). The programme consisted of three matches, the first at 500 and 600 yds (handicap), 7 shots at each, the second at3oo, 500, and WWyds (handicap), 7 ehote at each, and the third a Ladies' Match at 200 yds, 5 ehots. The prize winner in tbe first matoh was ltifleman W. Chapman. 27. 29 (hop. 10), 66 (prize presented by Mepers Walker and Anderson). The principal other scores were:—Rifleman J. K-ennie (scr), 64; Rifleman S. D. Buctin (scr), 61; Riflemen F. Trent (scr), 63. The nriro winner in "tho second match was Rifleman W. Chapman, 28, 29, 28 (hep. 6), 9-2 (prize presented by Mr W. Bmilantyne). Other scores were:— Rifl-eman J. Rennie, 32, 32, 27 (scr), 91; Rifleman S. D. Buntin, 2S, 33, 28 (scr), 89; Rifleman F. L. Mouidey, 32, 23, 26 (scr), 83: Rifleman T. B.
