ORANGE GRAND LODGE.

WELLINGTON, April 2.0. Tlio first meeting of the Union Orango Grand Lodge of New Zealand was opened this morning. Th© following officers were elected and installed: —R.W. Grand Master, Bro. J. Middleton,; Deputy G.M., Bro. J. Aston; Foreman of Committee, Bro. R. Meredith ; Grand Chaplain, Bro. Major Camming (Salvation Army); Grand Secretary, Bro. E. N. Budden: Grand , Deacons, Bros. J . Barlow and Caygill; Inner Guard, Bro. Martino; '.Tyler, Bro. King. It was resolved that representation as agreed to by particular lodges should he the same as before amalgamation. The constitution agreed upon provides, amongst other things, "That setting aside party politics, the Orange Institution shall support the return to Parliament and all other public bodies, only of men. of sound and well-known protectant principles; that, no candidate shall be admitted under 18 years of ago; that no person* who at any timo has been a Roman Catholic or is married to one, shall bo admitted into tdxs institution, except upon, testimonials of good character and satisfactory evidence produced showing that he and his wife havo been recognised members of some protestant church for at least five years, and by the unanimous vote of the Grand Lodge and a certificate of his having been unanimously elected by ballot in the lodge in which ho is proposed being sent to the Grand Lodge; that any member marrying a Catholic shall bp expelled , ; and that privat* lodges may elect members who have served 2-5 years continuously, or in recognition of past services, as life members, with all the privileges of membership, providing such lodge pays the yearly capitation tax for .Mich members as ordered by tho Grand Lodge, and subject to tho ruke of the institution. ,.
