CHURCH MEETINGS.
A very successful gathering of Sun-day-School teachers connected -with the Presbyterian Church | took place at Rangiora on Friday. '• Teachers from Christchurch left by the morning train, and at 10.30 a.m. a service was hold in the Rangiora Presbyterian Church. The roll was called, and it was found that the folloAving schools were represented :—.Ashburton, . Kaiapoi, Cust, I-oburn, Papanui, Rangiora, Richmond, Riccaiton. Sefton, Sydenham, St. Peter's, St. Paul's, St. and Knox Churches. About 100 teachers were present. The Rev. D. J. Steele presided, and he and iJr'R. S. ShawWelcomed the visitors. The Rev. J. S Reid delivered an address on "Tlie Nobility. Difficulty and Pressing Need of Sunday-school Work." In the'afterroan the Rev. J. Mackenzie delivered a general addresß on ''Practical Sundayschool Questions of Present Interest." An animated discussion followed, in which the Revs. J. S. Reid and D. J. Steele, 3lessns G. Shaw, Bradley, T. W M'Kay and T. W. R. Hitt and "Mrs Darling and Mrs M'Creedy took part. -less-re Court and Foster, the representatives of the local Anglican and Methodist Sunday-schools, also addressed the meeting. Lunch and tea were served on the manse lawn, and, on the motion of Mr G. Burn, president of the Association, a vote of thanks was accorded to the Rangiora teachers and to the Rev. D. J. and Mrs Steele. It was also decided to make tho conference an annua' function.
