OPERA HOUSE.

y . ''Strenuous, but novel and amusing' v,.., » the best description of the perform||te ( ' f ance given by Miss Eva Lee and her who made tlieijr first

local appearance on Saturday' evening. It is described on the programme as a novel coon act, but after seeing it one comes to the conclusion that it is a nirdley of gipsy, Maori, and coon idiosyncrasies. The appearance of tlie trio suggests the Romany, the haka indicates the --aori, and tho remaining indefinable something else is undoubtedly coon. Miss Lee's character song was remarkable, but the boxing bout by tne piccaninnies was more so. Tlie return of Mr Fred Graham and Miss Nellie Dent, was warmly acknowledged, and their little comedy, "A Lucky Catch," made a bound into popularity. The dialogue is a string of c-tag-e extravagances, but it is so •cleverly and smartly precipitated on the audience that one has perforce to enjoy it and laugh. Miss Gertie McLeod, a winsome kilted songster and dau-seuso, has made her dainty turn one which is always appreciated, as she sings sweetly and dances prettily. Mr Carl Brasso ro-appear-ed in his wirewalking and weight-lifting act—a curious but effective combination. Mr Bob Lloyd, Mr Harry Edwards, and a clever eong and dance duo also appeared with success.
