MEETING OF CREDITORS.

The first meeting of creditors or Fred. Lill and W. W. Gibson, -who had been carrying on business as general commission' agente at Leeston for two years past, was held at tlio Official Assignee's office yesterday. There was an attendance of about a dozen cieditors. Mr Mearee appeared for Lill and Mr Smitheon for Mr T. Dent who -was partly interested in a mortgage given by Lill. Lill in September, 1905. Ho paid Lill £200 for a half share in the business. The- stock consisted of about £90 worth of hardware, with office furniture and effects. Lill was principally a commission agent, and said he was likely to lose his agencies by his inability to go out and work them up. Ho (Gibson) kept tho books, but Lill sometimes made entries. Ho did not know at tho time of the partnership what sum was in tho bank, but LiL 1 eaid ho was worth £3000. The bank account was kept at tho Bank of New Zealand at Leeston in Lill's name, and he (Gibson) never operated on it. Ho was under tho impression that the business was paying right up to tho dissolution of partnership. The books showed an average- monthly turnover of about £70 on the sale of goods, ii, dependent of salaries and commissions Ho drew no wages, but, as far as he could remember, ho drew £140 while be was in the business. Mr Lill he estimated, drew £300. At tho end of the first partnership year ho drew up a balance-sheet, and a profit was then disclosed, but he forgot the amount.
