A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the general committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association held yesterday was attended by Meesrs H. E. Peryman (chairman), H. P. Murray-Ayneley, H. Overton, C. H. Eneor, J. Deane, W. Hiyward, junr., T. W. Adams, D. W. Westonra, G. Jameson, T. D. Boag, J. D. Hall, D. McMillan, F. Waymouth, W. Recce, B. G. Steveley, M. Murphy, and Jas. Henderson. The John Ambulance Association offered to provide and equip ft hospital tent on. the ground during the Summer Show. 31r H. E. Steveley warmly commended the- excellence and usefulness of the proposal. Tho Amberley branch of the Farmors' Union solicited tho co-operation of tho Association in securing the presence in the district of a Government analyst to assist in carrying out experiments. The communication w«s referred to the .Experimental Committee. Tv onty-one new members were elected, and eccounte amounting to £179 5s 5s passed for payment. The Luncheon and .Reception Committee leportod that tho following appointments Jiad been made for the luncheou and confectionery booths at the forthcoming Show:—Grand "stand and publican's booth, Mr P. Burke; two confectionery booths, Mr J. T. Woodfiold, temperance booth, Women's Christian Temperance Union. The following bends had been engaged:—For Thursday, Ktanmoro Band; for Friday, Garrison Band and Woolston Bandi The eub-oommittce appointed to report on the proposal to oiler prizes for the best-kept dairies recommended "That the City Council and Inspector of Dairies he informed that this committee is prepared to formulate a scheme lor competitions for dairy farmers, on tho understanding that any prize money verted by this committee will be supplemented £1 for £1 by each of the following:—The Government, Cbiistchurch. City Council, mid tho several dairy factories or cream*cries in tho district, and in the ev«-nt of such competitions being started in this district, tho various district associatione be urged to institute similir competitions in their respective districte.'—H. , E. Peryrnnn, Chairman. The general tenor of the scheme was approved. Messrs Hall and Keeco urged that a definite sum should be stated before approaching the outside bodies. . The Chairmuu suggested that £2o from the Association woukl bo quite sufficient, which with tho subsidies would give them £100. Ho moved: "That the amount to be contributed by the Association for tho first competition bo not moro than £25." 1 Mr iStavelej seconded the motion. As an amendment, Mr Hall moved: "That the sum do not exceed £12,"' Mr Deans seconding. The amendment was carried. It was reported that the following judges had accepted xppointment for the .Summer Show :—Horeee—Draughts, Mefisre A. Alexander and James Patrick: blood horses, cobs and ponies, Mr G. Hunter; saddle horeee end hunters, Mr H. Gaieford; enrriere' and tradesmen's turnouts, Mr Peter Johneon; military events, LieutenantColonel Haw'kine and LieutenantColonel Slater.
