A COMPROMISE SUGGESTED
(press association telegram.) DUXEDIN, October 15. A meeting of representatives of the bottling trade was held to-day for the purpose of considering tho present situation in regard to the purchase of quart bottlee, and of arriving et a dofinite arrangement to regulate the price of same, ilessre Thomson and Co. explained that their action in raising the buying price of bottlee to 2s Gα per dozen was due to the fact that other firms had broken the agreement whereby it was arranged that bottJee should b« purchased at Is per dozen. This waa the last time they were- going to sign any agreement *bout bottles. They were prepared to work with the other firms, but if it were going to be war, it would be war in evory sort cf bottle A committee was act up to consider the matter.
