Tbe first annual convention, of the Australasian Press Association was held to-day. Delegates representing the Press Association of New South Wales end country associations of Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and New Zealand were present.
It was decided to urge the formation of an Association in each State on the lines of the New South Wales Association to fix a scwlo of advertising and promote the interests of members in relntion to cable and telegraphic services and other matters.
There was long discussion on tho proposal to establish an independent cable and a committee \res appointed to further discuss the project. It was resolved to urge the Federal fiovernment to invito twenty-fiv© editors from Groat Britain, Canada, and Cape Colony to visit Australia at the expense of the Commonwealth. The opinion wee expressed that this would be ouo of tho best ways of advertising Australia. It was also resolved to ask the railway administration to grant tho Press a rate similar to that prevailing in New Zealand. The next convention meets iv Melbourne nest year.
