SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

Tho last meeting of the St. Albans School Committee was attended by Messrs Cole (chairman), Allen, Morgan, Colville, Lucas, Hobbs. Knight, and Faulkner (secretary). The headmaster's reports showed 586 and 304 on the roll at St. Albans and Elmwosd respectively. A letter was received from a householder near the school, calling attention to a nuisance which might be a menace to the health of tho school children, and tho secretary wis instructed to write to the Council in connection with the matter. It was resolved to ask tho Board to assist the Committee to re-grade the school grounds. A letter was received from the Education Department, promising to consider the Committee's represerotat.ons on uniformity of school books. Smithson, and Mr )^' £„ ?'^°, n (secretary). Accounts for £10 05 8d were passed. Tho headmaster reported an average attendance of 945 out of 1129 pupils at tho main school, and an average attendance at South belt of 75 out of DO pupils on the roll. The prevailing epidemic of influenza had been the cause of absence of several te-ichers. The headmistress at Phillipßtown reported an average attendance of 159 out of 179 boys and 125 out of 154 ~irls on the roll.-Messrs Sipsford.
