(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM".") AUCKLAND, October 14. At the Baptist Union Conference the report presented by tho Sunday School and Young People's Committee stated that the schools throughout the Dominion are pursuing successful work. Newer methods of teaching are gradually being adopted, especially in the primary and Bible class departments. The examiners spoke most highly of tho result of the examinations. They examined 54 schools, 5112 scholars and (J2B teachers and officers. The conference resolved to send delegates to tho Australian Baptist Congress. It was also resolved to approach the Sunday School Unions in the Dominion to secure, the holding of examinations at tho same timo of year, so as to prevent their clashing with the Church.examinations.

(SPECIAL TO "THK PRESS.") AUCKLAND. October 14. The Baptist pulpits of tbe Auckland province were occupied yesterday by ministers attending the conference of the Baptist Union. A united Sunday school gathering was held in the Tabernacle. At this morning's session of the conference, the Rev. A. Dowdney was aj>pointed to prepare, and Mr H. H. Driver to publish, a primer on. Baptist Church history. Deputations were received from the local branches of the W.C.T.U. the NoLicense League, the Temperance Committee of the Presbyterian Church, the Peace Association, and the Church of Christ. A distribution of books was mado to the ministers and missionaries from the Conference Book Fund. A lengthy resolution against gambling was heartily adopted. Adverse reference was made to tho gaslight sports, in which gambling vras openly indulged. The election of officers resulted iv the. following appointments:—President, the Rev. F. E. Buckingham (o«.maru): vice-president, the Rev. William Hay (Dunedin): secretary, the Rev. R. S. Gray ("Christchurch); treasurer, Mr A. Chidgey: committer, the Revs. J. J. North. A. North, A. Dewdnev, and J. C. Martin, Messrs A. S. Adams, W T . H. George, H. H. Driver, and A. F. Carev: students' committee, the Revs. J. J. North. A. S. Wilson, R. S. Gray, T. A. Williams, and A. Dewdney: convener of board of advice, the Rev. A. North: preacher, the Rev. S. A Wilson. The next meetings are to be held in Nelson.

In tho evcnin/r a mass meeting of men was held. "The Tabernacle was well filled. Mr Gilbert Carson presided. The speakers were the Revs. Arthur Dewdnev, J. C. Martin, and J. J. North.
