Thcro is a good deal of dissatisfaction hero, t.s tho protracted delay in completing tho Roes railway extension bridges contract is already long over tho timo allowed, and as yet t.ho main bridge has not even been commenced. Although tho lino should havo boon opened months ago. it is calculated that it will take fully twelve months from the time the works are actively resumed. Tho Mayor (Mr Michel) pointed out Inst night that at the present rat© it will take 87 years for tho lino to roach Okarito, tho principal township of South Wee-tland. There is a very unsettled feeling at the apparent neglect of the Government to push tho lino through to Roes, also there is a general feeling of dissatisfaction at this town not hiring th© benefit and convenionco of a daily or through service to the East Coast, now that tho summer months ore at hand. Strong representations ar© being made to tho Ministers on both matters.
