(rRESS AS?orrATiov telegrasi.) AT IK LAND. October 10. The "untinancial"' r»osition of t!io Auckland Tire Board was animadverted upon at to-niglifs meeting ot the City Council. Tho former billed the latter for C7')o, boinc: tho first f|iiartt'r's contribution duo by tho Council. In addition, the Bonrd* asked, in new of tho fact that tl# Government's contribution was not yet to hand, and the amount of it not even agreed upon, that tho Council *-ould contribute an eighth of the whole amount of the estimates approved (£6000). It was agreed to pay tho £750, but not before Councillors had made some strong criticisms of the Act and tho Government's methods ot business. Mr C. J. Parr likened tho muddlo caused by tho Act to a comic opera.
