(HFECIAL TO "TOT P8859.") WELLINGTON, September 8. On the Stock Exchange on Saturday, Bank of New Zealand shares declined to £10 7s 6d, while for Notional Bank shares, to £6 8s 6d w«e offered. Loan and Mercantile shares were offered at 7a, buyers, & 9d. In Gee, Hokitik* were wanted et £4 10e, Hawera £1 Iβ, end Port Chalmers 19s 6d, and there were sellers of Gisborne at £2 13e 6d, and Napier at £25 end £16 for the respective kindl. Insurance shares ere well held, sellers of New Zealand asking £4 4s. and South British £5 16s. whilst Nationals would be accepted at £1 6s 6d. In Meats, Christchurch are in demand at the enhanced quotation of £10 Oβ, and an offer of £3 3s 6d for Wellington wee Is Gd bolpw the holder's ideas. Manawatu Rails are still wanted tt £2 2s, and a vendor of Union Steam declared at £18 10s. Taupiri Coal were easier at 19e 3d. Buyers of Kauri Timber have been added to the local exchange* list, and there was enquiry at 7e 7d for the 15s paid-up shares. Sellers of Portland Cement asked £1 17s 9d,_su>d Keynokfe' preference were lower atilSa in the mining division, which, cays tho "Post," now quotes the scrip of twelve companies. There was a fairly animated market, sales of Talismans being effected at 47s 6d and 47s 9d, end Kurumii Caledonian at 9jd. A eeller of Big River declared at 12s 6d; and Grand Junctions were wanted at £2. Wsihis were sluggish at £8 15s (sellers).
