THE ASSOCIATION GAME.
WELLINGTON v. CANTERBURY. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, September 8. The Association football match between Wellington and Canterbury was played at Miramar on Saturday before about a thousand persons. Sir Joseph and Lady Ward wero among the spectators, and after the match the Premier complimented both captains on the form shown by their teams. The weather was excellent and the ground in good order.
The teams were as follows^— Canterbury:—Goal, Rnseell; back*, Chapham, Ameer; halves, Jonee, M'Oreanor, Hattriok; forwards, Knight, Smith, Dowkor, Pitt. Harvey. Wellington.—Goal, Oldnall; backe, Elion (captain), Roberts; halves, Barron, Tempest, M. llonai; forwards. Oilier, Ash, C. CShea, A. Mouat, Saunders.
The gamo wa3 fairly fast throughout, and ended in a victory for the home representatives by four goals to two. Canterbury drew first blood,

Ash soon placed another goal to Wdlington> credit soon after which Mouat registered tho home team's fourth goal. Canterbury's second goal was scored by Pitt.
