THE WATERPROOF TENT CLAUSE.

(special to "the press.") WELLINGTON, September; 6. Mr Bill has been consider ably amended by the Labour Bills Committee of the Hone© of Representatives. Clause 11, which reads as folloWe, has been struck out:—'Tor the purposee of this Act accommodation shall be deemed to be sufficient if it consists of (a) a sufficient waterproof tent, or (b) a building, portalfle or otherwise, containing 240 cubic feet of air-space for each person to be accommodated therein." ' ,

The following new clause has been added:—"The Governor may from time to time, by Order-in-Council gazetted, make regulations prescribing the nature and extent of the accommodation that shall bo deemed to be adequate (or the purpose of this Act, ana for the maintenance of tho same in a cleanly and eanitary condition, provided' that no accommodation at a homestead shall be deemed' to be adequate unless ©very room in which agricultural labourers are <.o be accommodated contains at least 240 cubic feet of air-space foT every person to be so accommodated, nor unless, in cases where two or more persons are to be accommodated, separate rooms are provided 1 for Bleeping and'for meals; and <»ach room provided for meals contains & fireplace or other sufficient means of warming tho room. Such regulations, may vary for different parts of Now -Zealand and for different times of the year."
