To-day ho goes to Hanmer on a visit of official inspection. Mr J. A. MacKay. who hae been for many years on the literary ■Uβ of the "Southland Daily News," hu received an appointment on the reporting staff of the "New Zealand Newi," ' Wellington's new morning paper. Captain James ±.deN aught, of the, Highland Rifles, Wanganui, has beon appointed organiser for the National League of New Zealand.
